What is an automated gas meter reader?
An automated gas meter reader is an electronic device that reads and records the usage of natural gas in residential or commercial buildings. This technology uses radio frequency identification (RFID) tags, which are attached to each gas meter, to track consumption over time. The readings are then transmitted wirelessly to a central location for monitoring and billing purposes.
What makes up the service?
A Gas AMR service is usually made up of 4 parts; the Sale of a GSM Gas data logger, the gas logger installation service, fully inclusive maintenance and finally, a daily data collection service with readings registered with your supplier where accepted.
- The GSM Gas data logger is the device installed on your existing gas meter. It uses RFID technology to track usage in real-time and record readings at pre-determined intervals, which are then uploaded via a cellular network connection.
- The installation service ensures that the data logger is correctly connected to your gas meter and also includes setting up a secure line of communication between the gas logger and the central monitoring station
- Maintenance service covers all necessary repairs or replacements needed for a functioning system, including battery replacement and upgrades to keep up with changing regulations.
- Finally, daily data collection service ensures that readings are registered with your supplier where accepted (NEM12 format) providing you with an accurate record of your gas usage. This data is then securely stored in the cloud and available for review through your own portal or via email/SMS alerts.
These services are designed to provide you with complete peace of mind when it comes to managing your gas consumption, allowing you to accurately monitor and manage your energy bills without the need for manual readings. Who is this service available to?
A commercial user of a gas supply is anyone who uses gas for business purposes. This could include a factory, office, or store that uses gas for heating or cooking. It is important to note that IMServ is only able to install an AMR Gas data logger onto a gas meter with a pulsed output port available for IMServ to use in order to attach the gas data logger device. This means that if you are a commercial user of a gas supply, you will need to have a meter with this type of port in order to have the data logger installed. However, once the data logger is installed, it will be able to provide valuable information about your gas usage. This information can help you to make informed decisions about how to use gas more efficiently, which can save you money.

What are the benefits of this Gas AMR service?
The premise of this service is to offer an improved standard of living for its citizens, by ensuring that each household is only paying for the exact amount of gas that they consume. This would be done by having someone come and read your gas meter on a regular basis, ensuring that your bills are always accurate. In addition, your profile class and measurement class would be taken into account in order to get an accurate reading. This would provide peace of mind to customers, knowing that they are not overpaying or underpaying for their gas. Furthermore, it would create a sense of security as people would be able to see their out of hour consumption.
Amongst the many benefits of having a smart meter installed in your home is the ability to monitor and improve your energy consumption through profile data graphs. Not only does this enable you to see how much energy you’re using and when, but it also allows you to make changes to your consumption habits that could lead to significant savings on your bill. Additionally, having a smart meter means that you won’t have to waste time chasing call centres for meter readings – the data will be transmitted automatically. This also provides greater transparency around the cost of metering, as you’ll be able to see exactly how much it costs to read your meter each month. Finally, having accurate energy data at your fingertips makes it easier to switch energy suppliers or negotiate a better deal with your current provider, as you’ll have all the information you need to make an informed decision. In summary, there are numerous advantages to having a smart meter installed in your property – so why not make the switch today?
