If you are a Total customer, you may have seen the news that a recent rebrand happened. TotalEnergies is the new name, but what does all this mean for you?

In 2021, Total announced they have agreed to change the company’s name from Total to TotalEnergies. After the Ordinary and Extraordinary Shareholders’ Meeting, shareholders at the company unanimously approved the decision.
 
This rebrand anchored the strategic transformation that TotalEnergies were undertaking, introducing a new visual identity too. TotalEnergies are aiming to contribute to the sustainable development of our planet, tackling the climate challenge and creating new energies.

They are focused on becoming a world-class player in the energy transition world of today. But where did this all come from? Will this have an effect on TotalEnergies customers? Is there anything you need to do now?

Why Did Total Decide To Rebrand To TotalEnergies?

With the company’s target of becoming carbon net zero by 2050, TotalEnergies wanted to put this ethos at the core of their strategy. TotalEnergies have decided the rebrand would be the next step in their clean energy transition.
 
If we break down the new name, the ’Total’ part recognises their prestigious heritage, with ‘energies’ symbolising their commitment to becoming a world leader in energy, producing fewer emissions and meeting increasing energy demands.

Why does the TotalEnergies rebrand include

  • New logo – The new logo features an intertwined T and E of the  TotalEnergies name, drawing a symbol and creating a new energy journey.
  • New name – The TotalEnergies name is a single name, however, in the plural it recognises all energies and talents. The typography creates this word in a non-breaking manner.
  • New colours – 7 colours represent the new image. 7 colours, for 7 energies. They are: oil, natural gas, electricity, hydrogen, biomass, wind and solar.

Has Total Gas & Power Been Sold?

No. Total Gas & Power is still an important part of Total, who are now called TotalEnergies.

I Am A Total Gas & Power Customer. Do I Need To Do Anything?

No, the rebrand at TotalEnergies will have no effect on customers payment methods or contracts. The contract you have with the company will remain the same, as payments will be collected as normal.

If you are nearing the end of your contract, or renewing your contract, it is likely you will be given a contract that has all the new branding, as well as updated Terms and Conditions that reflect the new company name.

I Am A Supplier To Total Gas & Power. Do I Need To Do Anything?

No, the rebrand at TotalEnergies will have no effect on suppliers.

I Am A Broker To Total Gas & Power. Do I Need To Do Anything?

No, the rebrand at TotalEnergies will have no effect on brokers, however, TotalEnergies suggest you update the logo with their new one online if you have been given permission.

What Will Change Due To The Rebrand?

Most email addresses at the company will now end with @totalenergies.com. Any emails that are dent to @totalgp.com will now be redirected to the new brand email addresses.

Will The Total Gas & Power Name Change?

Total Gas & Power will follow suit and be rebranded too. There will be details of the rebrand, including a new company name shortly.
 
Do I Need To Update My Payment Details Or Direct Debit Details With TotalEnergies?

No, customers won’t need to do anything. TotalEnergies will continue to take payments just like usual. Payments will be taken on the same day as normal by the same method.

Just note, you will notice that payments will soon be taken from TotalEnergies rather than Total Gas & Power.

Do I Need To Sign A New Contract With TotalEnergies?

No, customers won’t need to do anything in regards to signing new contracts. It is are the same company, just with a new logo and name!

Customers will continue to deal with TotalEnergies just like normal with your contract remaining the same.

Are The Contact Numbers Different At Total Gas & Power?

No. You will be glad to hear that all telephone numbers will stay the same.

As part of the rebranding, TotalEnergies have announced some goals that they are aiming towards. TotalEnergies are focus on their contribution to the sustainable development of our planet, as well as tackling the climate challenge and creating new energies.

TotalEnergies want to become a world-class player in the energy transition world of today. But what other targets are they aiming at? Below is a list of some of their goals for 2030.

  • Reaching carbon neutrality – Goal: To deduce their direct emissions to Net Zero by 2050 (in MtCO2e)

  • Becoming a broad energy company – Goal: Increase electrons energy sold to their customers from 5% in sales to 15% by 2030.

  • Becoming a broad energy company – Goal: Decrease oil products energy sold to their customers from 55% in sales to 35% by 2030.

  • Placing in the top 5 – Goal: Becoming among the top 5 in renewable energies by 2030.

  • Increase renewable sales – Goal: Aiming for $60 billion in renewable projects to be financed over 10 years.

  • More Gas & Power customers – Goal: Increasing Gas & Power customers from 8 million in 2020 to 12 million by 2025.

  • More EV charging points – Goal: Seeing a rise from 21,000 EV charging points in 2020 to 150,000 EV charging points by 2025.

  • Biogas production improvements – Goal: Increasing biogas production from 500 gigawatt-hours/year to 4000 – 6000 by 2030.

  • Biofuels production increase – Goal: Seeing a rise from 0.3 million tonnes per year in biofuels production to 5 million by 2030.
