The box that keeps motors in check

It may look like just a small case, but it has the power to carry out energy audits. Motorbox was developed by EDF R&D to simplify monitoring tools for industrial motors as far as possible. The revolutionary box, which has been undergoing fine-tuning since 2011, serves as a tool for both measurement and analysis. It is a low-cost, turnkey solution that can remotely monitor a fleet of dozens of motors at once via a dedicated Internet server. An energy self-sufficient, plug-and-play system fitted with wireless sensors, Motorbox collects, records, and remotely analyzes data from the machines at the site being audited.A wealth of informationThe tool enables the accurate, real-time and remote monitoring that is required for wide-scale energy savings. An energy self-sufficient, plug-and-play system fitted with wireless sensors, Motorbox collects, records, and remotely analyzes data from the machines at the site being audited. This wealth of information can be easily used to improve installations’ energy use or load profile, for example. The other component of the system is a software program called VivEcoPlus that analyzes and compares the performances of the motors being monitored with neighbouring motors or other solutions. It provides a definitive source of information for experts, who can use it to deliver even better solutions for their customers. It also provides essential help with achieving objectives for white certificates, a benefit highlighted by customers during the test stage. Testing was so successful that roll-out of the box within teams at the EDF Group’s sales division began in late 2014.To go further
