Open consultation: Consultation on non-domestic smart metering

By HM Government

This consultation seeks views on two issues relating to the roll-out of smart and advanced meters to the non-domestic sector.

First, it seeks views on the existing policy position which allows suppliers to use communications services other than those provided by the Data and Communications Company (DCC) for any SMETS2 meters they install at non-domestic premises. The Government is seeking views on whether to remove this policy.

Second, it seeks views on the Government’s policy position that there should be no extension beyond April 2016 of non-domestic suppliers’ current option to install advanced meters to meet their roll-out obligations.
