Guidance: Meeting climate change requirements if there’s no Brexit deal

  1. Updated with the latest information on the introduction of the Carbon Emissions Tax.

  3. The 2018 compliance deadline to surrender allowances for the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) is now 30 April 2019. The Carbon Emissions Tax will not be commencing on 15 April 2019. Further information on the implications of the extension for carbon pricing will be set out in due course.
  4. The 2018 compliance deadline to surrender allowances for the EU ETS is now 10:59pm on 12 April 2019. If EU exit day is changed again, the compliance deadline will be 30 April 2019 (or immediately before exit in the event that exit day is before 1 May 2019).
  5. The 2018 compliance deadline to surrender allowances for the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) is being extended from 15 March 2019 to 26 March 2019.
